2013 Overview of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Emergency Response and Recovery Program

In the third year of its five-year program, the completion of the Ishinomaki City Children's Center marks an important step in the ongoing efforts to engage children in the recovery process.

We continued to carry out programs that include providing safe places for children; and managing scholarship programs for agricultural and fisheries high school students. We also expanded our assistance for local NPOs involved in children's causes.

In Fukushima, where the radiation threat remains a concern, our efforts focused on projects to protect children's right to play and grow up in a safe and secure environment.

In 2014, we will keep working closely with children and communities to the recovery and to protect and fulfill the rights of children.
