Great East Japan earthquake and tsunami Emergency response and recovery program

Return to Tohoku to fulfill a promise! RESTART JAPAN with TUBE Disaster-area Reconstruction Support Live Show (July 30, 2012)

The Tohoku Reconstruction Support Outdoor Free Live Show with TUBE was held as a part of the RESTART JAPAN Support Project in four locations of three prefectures in Tohoku from July 15 to 22, 2012.

In the event venue of San Andreas Park in Ofunato City, Iwate Prefecture on July 21

After the earthquake struck in March 2011, TUBE visited the disaster-hit areas multiple times considering what they could do as people and as musicians and so they composed a song including shout outs to the people affected by the earthquake and the disaster-hit areas. This was completed as the reconstruction support song RESTART after 173 prominent people in various fields responded to a call from TUBE. This RESTART was released last year in June as a charity song with the name of the artists as RESTART JAPAN with TUBE. The proceeds from this single have been donated to the RESTART JAPAN Fund which supports children in the disaster-hit areas. With the desire of the members of TUBE, who had made a sincere promise to continue their support of the disaster-hit areas this year, to assist people affected by the disaster with their songs, free live shows were held in coastal towns hit by the tsunami as the activity of RESTART JAPAN with TUBE. The band visited a total of four venues on this tour: Miyako City, Kamaishi City and Ofunato City in Iwate Prefecture, as well as Kesennuma City in Miyagi Prefecture. The performances took place in venues such as the playgrounds of elementary schools, parks and the locations of local summer festivals. The stage was created in the openable container of a huge truck, which toured around these coastal towns for their shows.

Members of TUBE showcase many of their classic songs

On July 21, the venue was San Andres Park in Ofunato City. From local children to adults, a great many people packed into the venue. Various comments could be heard from the spectators. “I’ve always been a TUBE fan! I’ve really been looking forward to this day.” “I know all their songs! My body has started to move on its own and I’ve become hot!!” Mr. Nobuteru Maeda, the vocalist of TUBE, said “Everyone, you have completely different expressions on your faces now than before the start of this live show!”
